Take the stress out of moving
Moving tips
Get rid of clutter
If you choose to pack your own belongings, try to get rid of as much clutter that you won't need as possible. By doing so not only are you carrying less things with you as you move, but it will be easier on you when it comes to unpacking.
Schedule donation pick-up
If you have furniture or other bulky items that you are willing to donate you can call the city's sanitation services (311) and schedule a free pickup of those items, some other places you can call include Goodwill or Salvation Army who will also pickup clothes that you are willing to donate.
Label your boxes
Labeling your boxes makes it easier for everyone, you and the movers who will be placing the boxes where they belong. At the drop-off destination you can also label the rooms with sticky notes so the movers can easily identify which box goes where without having to bother you for every box.
Heavy Items
Try placing heavier items in smaller boxes, this prevents unnecessary accidents from happening and makes it easier for the movers to do their job without hurting themselves.
Small Items
Place small items in medium-to-large sized boxes and try not to mix too many heavy items with them, heavy items should be placed in smaller boxes. Do not place small items in trash bags or other non-stack-able containers.
